About us - ALBOR Coffee

Our story

Born at first light

We are a three-generation coffee-growing family in Marsella, Risaralda, in the heart of Colombia's Coffee Cultural Landscape. ALBOR brings that standard to your cup: coffees chosen with care, each one with a name and an origin behind it.

The name

Why we are called Albor

Albor is the brightness that appears before the sun: the moment when the night has given way but the day has not started yet.

On the farm it is the hour of picking, when there is just enough light to tell the ripe cherry from the green. That is the essence of our coffee.

The family

Three generations on the same land

Coffee is ruined in the details: a green cherry in the depulper, a fermentation left too long, a rushed drying. None of it shows in the sack; all of it is tasted in the cup.

That is why every step is done by someone in the family, on the same hillside in Marsella.

How we choose

Coffees with a name

Besides our own harvest, we choose coffees from allied farms and roasters, starting with Don Pablo Coffee. Each one keeps its brand and origin, so you always know who made it and where it comes from.

We apply the same standard we use on our own farm: if we would not serve it at home, it does not reach your cup.

In short

What makes our coffee different

  • Picked bean by bean. At first light, when you can tell the ripe from the green.
  • Controlled fermentation. Checked by hand, so it never runs over.
  • Sun drying on raised beds. Without hurry, even when rain is coming.
  • Roasted in small batches. So every lot keeps its own profile.
  • Volcanic soil, mist and shade. A slow ripening that gives sweetness and clean acidity.
  • Three generations of craft. On the same hillside in Marsella, Risaralda.
